WEIGHTMANS has been appointed as legal advisor to Liverpool Mutual Homes after beating off strong competition from seven other Liverpool firms.
It will be advising LMH on all aspects of housing management including possession, disrepair, anti-social behaviour issues, commercial landlord and tenant, employment issues and contractual disputes.
LMH is a non-profit industrial and provident society set up by Liverpool City Council in 2006 to take transfer of the remaining housing stock from the Council. LMH was created specifically to improve the existing housing stock, offer a quality housing management service and to contribute to the regeneration of Liverpool.
Weightmans’ legal team will be led by Sian Evans, a property litigation partner who specialises in property disputes and has particular expertise in the housing sector. She was also recently appointed to the Law Society’s Housing Committee.
She said: “This is a significant client win for Weightmans. We are constantly looking at where we can improve our service offering and we aim to remain competitive in the Liverpool market. This success is a sign that we are getting it right.”
Peter Fieldsend, director of corporate services for LMH: “It is important for LMH to work with an experienced and knowledgeable legal team who understand the social housing sector. We are confident that Weightmans can cope with the scale and diversity of our activities as we deliver an extensive 5-year investment programme in tenant homes throughout the city.”
Weightmans is appointed for an initial three year period with an option to extend for a further 12 months.
