"New era" for EAD

THIS month sees the launch of a “new era” at EAD Solicitors – with the firm unveiling a new-look management team, completing its merger with Widnes practice Poole Swale, and converting to LLP status.

Long-standing partner Mike Sexton is taking on the senior partner role from Tom Doherty, the founding member of EAD in 1989, who will continue as partner.

Partner Steve Cornforth also takes on the newly-created role of deputy managing partner.

Mr Sexton, who has been at EAD since 1993 and also heads up the personal injury department, said: “Tom has done a fantastic job as senior partner and has taken the firm to a whole new level. I am certain to be liaising with him very closely in the future and his input will continue to be invaluable. I am looking forward to the challenge.”

By amalgamating Widnes based law firm Poole Swale into its practice, EAD will strengthen its private client work, conveyancing, commercial, litigation and debt recovery practice areas.

Garry Abrams, managing partner at EAD: “We are delighted to complete this deal. It is a hugely positive development for both firms.

“Poole Swale has an excellent reputation, particularly for private client work; an area we see a great deal of potential and future development in.”

EAD’s conversion to LLP status also becomes effective this month.

Mr Abrams added: “The conversion to LLP status, complemented by the expansion of our management team, provides the firm with the appropriate corporate structure to tackle the challenges ahead.”
