Musical offering on our doorstep

Posted by Clive Bleasdale on April 9, 2008 10:28 AM |

It was good to hear that The Echo Arena will be the venue for a 30th Anniversary gig for the band, Echo And The Bunnymen on 27th November. The band will be performing their iconic ‘80’s classic album “Ocean Rain” to many thousands of fans.

Most people who know me know I’m a huge fan of Echo And The Bunnymen, so it was with great pleasure I accepted an invite from Dougal Paver to go along with another “Bunnyman” David Owen of Rensburgs. Having followed the band since my days at Liverpool University at venues like Erics, the Royal Court and the Academy, nothing has been a greater pleasure for me than to strike up a friendship with their guitarist Will Sargeant as our daughters are good friends through school.

To hear tales from behind the Liverpool music scene is interesting indeed. Taking further a theme I’ve had through this blog that many things in life turn full circle, Will DJ’s in Korova owned by my good friend and client Rob Gutmann who is friends himself with Bunnymen lead singer, Ian Mcullogh. David claims its Wills fault he owns a fender Jaguar guitar but that’s another story for another day…..

With The Stranglers & Blondie playing as well later in the year, its great to see the breadth of the musical offering now available on our doorstep giving us choices not just for our own leisure time but also an ideal opportunity to encourage business friends, contacts and clients to enjoy this great facility and the other facilities our City has now to offer.
These factors can only help us attract businesses and their prospective employees to Liverpool and help us grow our local economy in my view.
