LFC manager Rafa Benitez has a strong case for taking legal action against the club after he expressed fears his job was “being undermined.
The Reds’ manager is understood to be seeking urgent talks with club officials after claims that chief executive Rick Parry was involved in a meeting with Jurgen Klinsmann that discussed replacing the Spanish coach.
News of the talks with Klinsmann first emerged in January after Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks admitted he had spoken with the Bayern Munich coach.
However, over the weekend Hicks claimed Parry was also present at the meeting, prompting Benitez to admit he felt his position was being undermined.
Paul Beck, a partner at Liverpool-based solicitors Quinn Barrow, said: “This latest revelation has certainly strengthened any claim Rafa Benitez may have against the club.
“The suggestion that the club’s chief executive was also present at a meeting with Jurgen Klinsmann to discuss replacing Benitez clearly undermines his position.
“However, in order to sue the club for constructive dismissal the Reds’ manager must resign from his position before suing Liverpool for breaching his contract.
“In this case, it would seem Benitez may be able to claim that the club breached his contract by openly attempting to replace him.
“I would certainly be advising the Spaniard to be taking urgent legal advice over his current situation.
