Brabners Chaffe Street is one of the best firms to work for in the UK, according to the annual Best Companies review.
The firm was one of the list’s highest climbers, leaping 40 places to be named number 27.
It was only one of two law firms in the UK in the top 30, the other being Manchester-based Pannone at number five.
The annual survey, the most authoritative of its kind in the UK, collates feedback from 180,000 employees from businesses across the nation.
Within the survey’s report, particular attention was drawn to Brabners Chaffe Street’s tendency to discourage employees from working excessively long hours.
It noted: “Brabners hasn’t survived for 200 years by working its staff to the ground. In fact, senior managers discourage people from doing excessive hours.
“Employees don’t feel too stressed and have realistic deadlines. With a 75% positive score, just 14 companies ranked higher on this question.
Managing partner Michael Brabner said that securing such a high place on the Best Companies list recognised the efforts to ensure that day to day working life was the best possible for the firm’s 363 staff members.
“Last year, we relocated our Liverpool office to Horton House in Exchange Flags, and used the move to re-assess and further improve working conditions.
“A similar process has also occurred in our Preston and Manchester offices, with Manchester recently expanding once again by taking on a further 10,000 sq ft of office space at 55 King Street.
The Best Companies survey, published every year in The Sunday Times, evaluates questionnaires focusing on eight factors: leadership; my manager; personal growth; well being; my team; giving something back; my company and fair deal.
Notification of Brabners Chaffe Street’s position on the Best Companies list comes only weeks after the firm won the Responsible Business Award at the Groundwork Merseyside Environmental Awards 2008.
