SOUTHPORT-based law firm, Barnetts Solicitors, is celebrating after winning a prestigious legal technology award for the second year running.

The firm beat off competition from law firms across the UK to win the Commoditised Legal Service of the Year Award at the Legal Technology Awards, for it’s ‘Click Legal Services’ division.

Barnetts was also highly commended in the Regional IT Team of the Year Award category and short-listed for the Most Client Focused Law Firm of the Year Award.

Click Legal Services offers a range of online legal services to businesses and consumers.
Click Conveyancing won the online service of the year award at last year’s Legal Technology Awards and since then, has been extended to other areas including Click HIPs, Click Accidents, Click Commercial and Click Switch.

The Legal Technology Awards are presented to vendors, clients and suppliers that are dedicated to technology within law firms and in-house legal departments. The glittering awards ceremony took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

James Whelan, ICT director at Barnetts, who was shortlisted for the IT director of the year award said: “To win the commoditised service of the year award for our Click Legal Services is a fantastic achievement for the firm and a testament to all the hard work that the team has put in.

“The Click brand has been very successful since its roll out 18 months ago. The whole brand is now turning over £3 million, which is 30 per cent higher than originally planned.

“Click is designed to make legal processes quicker and more efficient for all involved, especially the customer. We are planning to further extend the service in the next two years with the introduction of Click Re-Mortgages and Click Estate Agents planned for 2008 and a further 20 service lines, which are currently being researched, to be implemented in early 2009.
