Award for Stobart deal makers

Posted by Vicky Anderson on February 21, 2008 6:45 AM |

LAW firm Halliwells has won the "Mid Market Deal of The Year" category at the 2008 Acquisition Monthly Awards, for helping Eddie Stobart plc onto the Stock Market.

Halliwells advised Eddie Stobart on its £138 million reverse takeover of property fund Westbury plc. Westbury also sold its property portfolio for £142m to WADI Properties and renamed itself Stobart Group. The deal meant that Stobart Group became fully listed on the Stock Exchange with assets of £250 million.

Halliwells' corporate team was led by partner and head of Liverpool office Jonathan Brown and Liverpool partner Craig Scott.

Mr Brown said: "We are delighted to collect this award. The Stobart transaction was major deal to work on as it actually involved five separate transactions. In total we had a team of over thirty lawyers advising on the various aspects of the deal."

Henry Gibbon, Editor-in-Chief at Acquisitions Monthly praised Halliwells for its "outstanding achievement and success" in relation to the firm's advice.
