LAW firm DWF has scooped a top accolade in recognition of its services to the insurance industry.
It has been named as Insurance Law Firm of the Year in the 2007 Insurance Times Awards. The judges commended DWF “for its strategic thinking and Board awareness of the issues affecting the insurance industry.’.
The award was presented at a glittering ceremony at the Metropole Hotel in Birmingham in front of an audience of over 1,000, including some of the industry’s leading figures.
The merger of DWF and Ricksons in January this year brought together two nationally recognised teams to create one of the UK’s leading insurance law practices.
DWF’s insurance department now has fee income of £24 million and a client base which includes household names such as Royal & SunAlliance, Norwich Union, Groupama, Brit, Allianz, Admiral and Fortis.
The firm has advised on some of the landmark cases of recent years and has helped to defeat many fraudulent claims, including a well publicised case involving over 20 guests who were in coach crashes on the way to a wedding. DWF produced a video showing some of them dancing at the reception.
Anthony Hughes, insurance partner with DWF, said: “This is a real coup for DWF and demonstrates the success of the merger in giving the practice added firepower and a higher profile in the industry. We have a strength and breadth of expertise that is almost unrivalled and offer the benefits of a specialist insurance practice within a larger firm that is able to advise insurers on a wider range of general issues.
