Embracing Globalisation

Posted by Mark Goodwin on January 16, 2008 1:00 PM |

The government is urging local businesses to embrace the challenges of globalisation in order to survive in an increasingly competitive marketplace. These are sentiments that I would champion.

There has been a marked increase in the number of businesses trading overseas in recent years and with the trend set to continue into 2008 so too will the demand for professional service advisers that can operate internationally.

With more than 3,600 lawyers located in 25 countries, DLA Piper is already well positioned to help North West companies meet their legal requirements wherever they are in the world. Through our offices we’re able to provide local legal services in cities as far afield as Moscow, Shanghai and San Diego.

Equally important is the skills, resource and experience needed to manage the risks created by disputes overseas. We have developed the ability to support our North West clients in their growth beyond local boundaries. The challenge now is for law firms to continue to grow at the same rate as the businesses they represent.
