MANAGING a Modern Law Firm is the title of the next Liverpool Law Conference being held on February 5.
Plenary sessions include: Adapting and responding to regulatory change; The Legal Services Act - threat or opportunity?; and linking strategies to operation in business development.
Speakers confirmed are Richard Barnett of Barnetts Solicitors, Chris Belsham of KPMG, Peter Williamson, chair of the SRA Board, Peter Moore of DWF, Paddy Gaul and David Lewis of Weightmans, Jonathan Austin (founder and chief executive of Best Companies), Chantel Hayne of LEXCEL Exec, Andrew Otterburn of Otterburn Associates, Phil Edwards of QPI.
Chair Richard Barnett said: "Solicitors in general seem to have a dilemma - are we a profession or a business? This question is fundamental to everyone who is managing a law firm.
"At this conference, we will look at some of the big issues facing us all in the next few years.
"There is no doubt that there are massive changes on the way, and what we will set out to do is give some pointers for strategic decisions that will need to be faced."
