
WALKER Smith Way has taken on four trainee solicitors at its Chester office.
The new recruits will complete two years’ training with the firm, undertaking four six-month placements in different departments.
Training partner, Neil Turnbull, said the firm’s employees were its greatest asset and training the next generation of solicitors was a key priority for the practice.
He said: “We have more than 400 applications for our training programme each year, so our new trainees have faced stiff competition for these places. I’m delighted to welcome them to the practice and hope they enjoy working for the firm.�
Gemma Mottram’s appointment as a trainee is the culmination of six years of hard work studying while working full time in solicitor’s offices. Gemma, 25 and from Croxteth in Liverpool, did a law degree at night school before moving to Manchester to do a part time legal practice course.
Zoe Gaskell, 24, from Great Moor in Stockport, studied law at the University of Central Lancashire before moving to Christleton Law College in Chester to do a legal practice course. She will be joining the personal injury department in Chester.
Richard Manley, from Spital, was inspired to become a solicitor after hearing his grandmother’s tales of life as a magistrate in Birkenhead. Richard, 24, who studied law at Liverpool University will be working in the commercial property department at Walker Smith Way.
Kate Thew, 23, is from Wallasey. Kate was inspired to become a solicitor after studying criminology and criminal justice Studies at the University of Leeds.
To complete the cohort of new trainees, Caroline Wilson will start at Walker Smith Way’s Wrexham office in the personal injury department.
Walker Smith Way has an extensive client base covering Cheshire, North Wales and the borders.
