Former DLA partner joins Hill Dickinson

Posted by Hill Dickinson on October 22, 2007 6:51 AM |

Sally Wightman has joined leading UK legal business Hill Dickinson as a partner to head the Chester office corporate and commercial team.

Sally joins Hill Dickinson from DLA Piper in Manchester, where she was a partner, after a short career break.

Her legal expertise covers all major corporate areas including mergers and acquisitions, group reorganisations, AIM flotations and joint ventures.

She has many years experience of all aspects of commercial contracts including distribution, supply and manufacturing agreements. She has acted for a wide range of corporate and commercial entities including companies in the chemical, industrial, financial Services and retail sectors.

Sally said: “I’m delighted to join Hill Dickinson in Chester. It’s the only major law firm with an office in Chester and has an impressive portfolio of clients. It is the blue chip law firm of Cheshire and North Wales.

Sally continued: “I am excited at the opportunities ahead and confident that the corporate and commercial practice will see rapid expansion over the next 12 months. I look forward to leading the Chester-based corporate team and working within the national corporate and commercial market, which is one of Hill Dickinson’s fastest growing sectors. I hope to play a key role in the local business community and bring a first class corporate service to businesses throughout Cheshire and North Wales and surrounding areas.

Hill Dickinson’s UK-wide corporate and commercial team numbers 28 partners and 59 lawyers, and continues to be one of the firm’s most significant areas of growth and further development. The Chester office in particular is experiencing considerable expansion due in good part to recent successful panel appointments including Chester City Council, Wrexham County Borough Council and the Health & Safety Executive to accompany its already strong client database of corporate entities.

Robin Jones, head of Hill Dickinson Chester, said, “Sally is a significant addition to our team and an important part of an ongoing expansion strategy. Her appointment takes the Chester team to a total of 64 people, including 8 partners. We will shortly be making significant additions to our Private Client, Commercial Property, Intellectual Property, Litigation and Regulatory teams. These recruitments, with the support of our national resources will ensure the availability of services from a nationally recognised firm at a local level."
