FLETCHERS Solicitors, the Southport-based specialist serious injury and matrimonial law firm, has taken a significant step in its history by converting to limited company status.
Managing director Rob Fletcher said: “We decided to change our corporate structure to safeguard our ability to carry on delivering a first class service to all our clients. It has become increasingly clear to more forward thinking law firms that we will encounter a new set of challenges and opportunities as the twenty-first century unfolds.
"Changes in the law governing the provision of legal services in the UK will inevitably bring change to our industry. So we decided to get ahead of the game by embracing change sooner rather than later.
Stephen Threlfall, also now a director of the company, added: “The switch to limited company status will leave us strongly positioned to compete successfully in 2009 and beyond once the provisions of the Legal Services Bill come into force.
Fellow director Ed Fletcher adds: “The legal industry has not always presented itself as the most forward looking professional sector. However Fletchers is already some way down the line in terms of structuring itself internally more like other commercial enterprises – moving beyond the traditional and conservative practices to which many law firms still cling.
"The logical next step was to look at our corporate structure. Rather than just moving to LLP status we decided to position ourselves ahead of the field by becoming a limited company.
Established in 1987, Southport-based Fletchers Solicitors employs around 100 staff and provides a personal and professional service to a wide range of clients with divisions handling property, personal injury, serious injury and family law.
In particular, Fletchers is one of the UK’s leading specialists in motorcycle injury cases.
