A BIRKENHEAD law firm is sponsoring new information and interpretation boards in Wirral's Royden Park.

Staff and clients from Percy Hughes & Roberts and other guests including park rangers, members of Friends of Royden Park and Wirral councillor Bob Moon enjoyed champagne and strawberries at the official unveiling this week.

Ranger Paul Greenslade thanked the solicitors firm for sponsoring the boards and the evening.

The idea of updating and reprinting the boards had come from one of their solicitors, Jan Cruise, he said.

He also thanked the Friends, local scout groups and other volunteers for their help with Royden Park over the years.

Jan Cruise said: " I had attended a meeting of the Friends of Royden Park and noted that the existing boards were sadly in need of a revamp. I was aware that there is limited council funding for items such as this. Percy Hughes & Roberts supports local issues and charities so I asked at work if we could sponsor the boards."

Jackie Smith, partner at the firm, said, "We have been delighted to sponsor the boards. We have been involved right from the design through to the installation. Some of the wildlife pictures on the boards were drawn by Sarah Chatwin, while she was working with us."
