EMPLOYEES at Barnetts Solicitors raised £400 for the Orchid Cancer Appeal after holding a pool competition at the Cue Bar in Southport.
16 members of staff from the firm took part raising sponsorship money from family and friends to wear a pair of boxer shorts instead of their trousers, which were supplied by the Orchid Cancer Appeal, throughout the tournament.
The prizes included a day’s holiday, vouchers and a trophy with all the money raised going towards the appeal.
The eventual winner of the tournament was Chris Walsh, senior assistant at Barnetts, who won the trophy, a day’s holiday and a T-shirt.
Charlotte Pugh, business development manager at Barnetts, said: “The Orchid Cancer Appeal is a fantastic organisation that relies on charitable donations to carry out its good work. We hope that our efforts will go some way towards helping the charity to carry on its fantastic work.
Formed in June 1996, the Orchid Cancer Appeal was the first registered charity dedicated to fund research into diagnosis, prevention and treatment of testicular, prostate and penile cancer and to increase public awareness of these previously neglected diseases.
