Walker Smith Way recruit two more

A FORMER head of tax for the sole surviving private deposit bank in the UK is one of two newcomers to an expanding Chester law firm.

Walker Smith Way has recruited tax and trusts manager Dawn Whalley, along with legal assistant Rachael Lainton, to its growing wills, trusts and probate department.


Ms Whalley relocated to the Wirral in 1999 and worked as a senior tax manager at Rathbones Investment Management, Liverpool, then Royce Peeling Green accountants in Manchester for two years before joining Walker Smith Way.

She said: “I enjoy my work very much because it is rewarding to help individuals resolve their personal finance problems.�

Joining Walker Smith Way has enabled Rachael Lainton to move back to live in Chester.

She said: “I had lived in Chester whilst working in my first job after graduating from university and I loved the city. I’m very pleased to be back.�

She joined Walker Smith Way from a law firm in Stoke-on-Trent.

Gareth Humphreys, managing partner of Walker Smith Way, said: “With the appointments of Dawn and Rachael, we’ve added new strengths to our wills, trusts and probate department.

“Their skills will compliment the expertise of the existing team, ensuring we offer the best service in the area to our clients.�

Established more than 150 years ago, Walker Smith Way has 30 partners and employs a total of 170 people. The practice is run from offices in Chester and Wrexham.
