City solicitor takes to the field in new role

Posted by David Higgerson on August 24, 2007 12:18 PM |

A WELL-KNOWN Liverpool solicitor has become the chief executive of Chester City Fooball Club.

Alan Middleton, senior partner at Middleton and Co solicitors based in Temple Court, will also be a member of the board at the League Two club.

Alan has been involved with Chester City Football Club for a while, and lives in Neston.

He said: “I’m pleased to be on board, there is a lot of hard work ahead, but it will be a pleasure being a part of, and assisting in, the future growth of Ches-ter City Football Club.

A spokesman for the club said: "With his background, Alan can help with all sorts of legal issues, which are part and parcel of running a football club such as; professional contracts, Health & Safety, problems with players especially transfers which can be a complicated process. These kinds of issues require a professional legal input which Alan is only more than happy to help with.

"Alan notices that there is great potential at the club and hopes to build up a good relationship with the Council to see more events taking place in and around the ground and to bring in more income for the club.

"He understands that finances are tight at the lower end of the football league and helping bring money into the club is his main priority.

"Alan recognises that Chester have a great team behind them already and is very happy to come and help in any way he can.

"He has long considered becoming a director and Alan is more than happy to help develop the club."
