A former lawyer has been handed the job of running The Mersey Partnership.
Tranmere Rovers chairwoman Lorraine Rogers's appointment ends an 11-month search for a replacement for the previous chief executive Robert Crawford, who handed in his notice last August.
Ms Rogers, a former lawyer and City investment banker, will retain her job as chairwoman of Tranmere Rovers and takes up her new responsibilities at TMP on August 13.
TMP believes Ms Rogers exper-ience as a corporate banker has given her first hand knowledge of how major companies assess investment decisions and perceive the strengths and weaknesses of places like Merseyside.
TMP chairman Roy Morris said: “We are delighted to secure Lorraine's services. Her wide knowledge and experience in the world of national and interna-tional business as well as sport, the arts and local business, will be an enormous asset. We have nego-tiated a flexible working arrange-ment with Lorraine which will enable her to lead TMP's opera-tions in dynamic fashion without intruding on her commitments.
Ms Rogers said: “I am thrilled to have this opportunity to lead TMP and I am looking forward to meeting my new colleagues and the 400-plus members who make up the organisation. I’m ready to lead TMP in its roles as Mersey-side’s sub-regional partnership, single inward investment agency and official tourist board.
Ms Rogers assisted her former partner Peter Johnson when the Wirral businessman owned Everton. She worked at Hambros and BZW investment banks in the City and was chairperson of Greater Merseyside Enterprise before it was wound up in spring.
A Daily Post columnist, Ms Rogers is also on the board of the RLPO.
