Barrister turns athlete for Canada world championships

Posted by Deborah James on July 10, 2007 6:05 AM |

A BARRISTER from Exchange Chambers in Liverpool is close to realising her ambition of becoming a world-class athlete.

Martine Snowdon, who specialises in criminal cases, recently completed the Royles Deva Triathlon in a time which, if repeated, may well qualify her for next year’s World Championships in Vancouver.

In completing this year’s triathlon, Martine swam 1,500 metres in the River Dee – 700 metres upstream and 800 metres downstream – completed a bike ride which took in Chester and Wales, and then ran two laps of riverside paths, parkland and local roads.

“The triathlon was hugely enjoyable and it has really whetted my appetite, said Martine.

“My training is going well and there’s no reason why I can’t set a new personal best and achieve a world championship standard time.
