CAMPAIGNING family law group Resolution says high profile, big money divorce battles only add to the confusion for many divorcing couples.
Spokeswoman Joanne Lomax, of Wirral law firm Lees and Partners, says: "The reality is many couples struggle to make their finances meet the running costs of two households when they divorce.
"What this case highlights is the lack of clarity around how a family’s finances should be sorted.
"The uncertainty created by a number of high profile and sometimes contradictory judgments around financial settlements has introduced a large degree of ambiguity into what divorcing couples can expect to pay and receive.
"If the government is serious about encouraging families to sort their differences outside the court room, they must urgently look at reforming current legislation in order to provide clarity on what people should pay or receive on divorce."
