LAW firm Bermans has hired two new senior partners and revealed details of a new strategic plan with a strong Liverpool focus.
The niche commercial practice based in Mercury Court, has for many years concentrated on national clients, providing specialist legal advice in areas such as licensed leisure, asset-based lending and leasing.
It also has offices in Manchester, Glasgow and New York.
More recently the firm has capitalised on the resurgent Merseyside economy, with a much greater share of fee income generated from clients in the region.
Nicky Benson, a specialist in employment law, recently joined the firm from Halliwells, bringing several long standing clients with her.
Ms Benson also brings the web-based service www.praesidiumemployment.co.uk, which she developed to offer smaller businesses a Human Resources management package covering all aspects of employment law, from recruitment to termination.
She said: "I saw this as a wonderful opportunity to join a practice where I can have an influence on the running of the business.
"There is a change going on within Bermans and it is exciting to be part of the new future."
Bermans has also recruited construction lawyer Charles McDermott.
Previously a lawyer at Knowles Solicitors, part of a major property construction advisory group, he has a wealth of industry experience and technical knowledge.
Mr McDermott said: "There is a great buzz about Liverpool and an unprecedented amount of development work.
"I've seen construction from all sides, having represented developers, architects and funders and actually started my career as a contracts manager.
"I worked alongside Bermans on numerous projects and was delighted to accept their invitation to join."
Fergal O'Cleirigh, Liverpool managing partner added: "We are growing Bermans organically rather than by merger and without changing our unique offer.
"There will always be a place in the legal market for a firm like us able to offer a high quality, personable service at competitive and flexible rates. We are delighted to have recruited two such talented lawyers who fit so well in the Bermans mould."
Bermans moved to new premises in Liverpool's Mercury Court office complex last year and plan to make further additions to the team.
