Property man on the move

Posted by David Higgerson on April 25, 2007 6:09 PM |

HALLIWELLS has boosted its Liverpool office with a range of senior level appointments.

The firm's real estate team has been strengthened with the appointment of Mark Gaffney who joins from Mace & Jones where he was a partner and head of real estate in Liverpool.

Mr Gaffney is independently ranked as one the region's leading real estate lawyers.

He specialises in all aspects of property development work including regeneration projects, residential, office, leisure, retail, warehouse and mixed use schemes.

Also strengthening the firm's real estate team is Martin McQueen, who joins as an associate from Murphy Hodginson in Liverpool, and is dual qualified Scotland and England and Wales.

The firm's corporate team has also been bolstered with the arrival of Berg Legal partner Richard McKay.

Richard undertakes a wide variety of corporate work, advising on business and share acquisitions and disposals, with particular emphasis on management buy outs, joint ventures, investments and banking work.

His clients include entrepreneurs, owner managed businesses, listed public companies and educational institutions.

Said Richard: "I've been at Berg since I qualified and have been very happy at the firm, but this is a fantastic opportunity to move to the next level in terms of clients and deals.

"There's a feel good factor about Halliwells.

"Everyone I've spoken to has been upbeat and positive about the firm's future direction and corporate is obviously a key driver."

Said Ian Austin, Halliwells' managing partner: "Real estate and corporate are key areas for the firm in Liverpool."
